This site demonstrates examples and the style of work from current and past students on the course at Stevenson College, Edinburgh.
The course is art and design led and aims to introduce the wide range of visual disciplines within the design industries. The students will improve their creative abilities using digital technology and traditional drawing skills to develop work in Graphics, Animation, Digital Imaging and Web Design.
Students will use industry standard software to complete their projects. These programs include Photoshop, Flash and Dreamweaver.
This commercial art orientated course seeks to aid the development of creative skills to allow the students to progress to the HND Digital Design course (new SQA group award) at Stevenson College and then to Higher Education. Alternative paths may lead to courses elsewhere at other establishments or to gain employment in their chosen specialist field.
Entry requirements are 2 standard grades. The demonstration of a visual portfolio is essential at the interview stage. The portfolio may include examples of drawings, photography, paintings, animation, video work, etc. Anything that demonstrates the applicants visual awareness and creative abilities could be shown.
The course runs from late August every year with a fast track version starting in late January. Any further enquiries should be directed to: lnowosad@stevenson.ac.uk
